Install PeerFlow on Android and Keep It Updated

Installing an app from a website instead of a store is safe when you know the steps. Here is how to install PeerFlow on Android, set it up and keep it current.

Most Android apps come from a store, but plenty of good ones are also offered directly by their makers. Installing from a website is perfectly safe, provided you know what to expect and where to get the file. This guide walks through the installation of PeerFlow on Android, the first-open checklist and how updates work.

Before you start

  • Use the official Download page. Open the PeerFlow Download page in your browser and get the app from there. Do not install files forwarded by chat or found on other sites.
  • Have a little free space. The app is small, but Android needs room to unpack it.
  • Know your Android version. Modern versions ask you to allow installs per app, which is safer than the old all-or-nothing setting.

Step by step

  1. Open the Download page on the phone and press the Android download button.
  2. Open the file when the download finishes, from the notification or the Downloads app.
  3. Allow the install if Android asks. Android says that your browser (or files app) is not allowed to install unknown apps. Press Settings, switch on Allow from this source, and go back.
  4. Press Install. The app is installed in a few seconds.
  5. Open PeerFlow and go through the first-open checklist.

If a warning from Play Protect appears, read it. It may say that the app is unrecognised because it is not from Play; for a file you downloaded from the official page, you can choose to install anyway. After you finish, you can switch the permission for your browser off again.

First-open checklist

PeerFlow shows a list of what is missing: notifications, microphone, camera, a folder for your files, the battery setting and permission for calls on the lock screen. Press Allow all and follow each prompt. See permissions PeerFlow asks for and why. Doing this once means calls ring, messages arrive and recordings have somewhere to go. If notifications seem unreliable later, read Android notifications not arriving.

What you can do straight away

Without signing in you can send and receive files, connect to a remote screen with a code and join meetings. To chat, make calls and host meetings, sign in with your email and a one-time code. The app opens to the same dashboard in both cases, with Chats, Meet, Files, Remote access and Settings.

How updates work

The version you download from the website can update itself. When a new version is available, the app tells you, downloads it and hands it to Android's installer. Android asks for one confirmation, and the first time it also asks you to allow PeerFlow to install updates. If you refuse, the app opens the settings page and asks you to try again. The update installs over the existing app, and your account and chat history stay as they were.

If a Play Store version exists, that one is updated by Play, and the website version is not mixed with it. Keep to one source.

Keeping the app current matters

New versions fix connection problems, improve calls and add features such as the folder and recordings. An old version may behave oddly with a newer server. Update when the app asks, and check the version in Settings if you need to tell someone which one you have.

Safety habits

Install only from the official page, and check the address bar says peerflow.ashwanitiwari.com. Do not install anything that arrives as a forwarded file. Keep Android and Google Play services updated. Turn off the permission to install from your browser when you are done.

On several phones

Repeat the steps on each phone. Sign in with the same account, and your contacts appear. Your chat history lives on each device separately, encrypted, so decide where to keep a backup. See chat history backup.

Other platforms

On Windows, use the Microsoft Store, as in install PeerFlow on Windows. On an iPhone, join meetings and send files from Safari for now.

Get started

Open the Download page on your phone, install the app and send your first file or message.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to install an app from a website?

It is safe when it comes from the official site and is signed by the publisher. Download only from the PeerFlow Download page and never from forwarded links.

Why does Android warn me about installing?

Android asks you to allow installs from the browser or files app you used, because the app does not come from a store. That is a normal safety step.

How does it update?

The app can download new versions and ask to install them, and Android asks for one confirmation. A Play Store version, when available, is updated by Play.

Will my chats stay after an update?

Yes. An update installs over the existing app, and your account and history on the device stay.
